How Many Shoes to Pack on a Cruise

shoes to pack on a cruise

Closet space inside a cabin room is tight. There are no walk-in closets and space is limited. Although it might be nice to bring a pair of shoes to match each outfit on your cruise, that simply isn’t practical. If you are wondering “how many shoes to pack on a cruise”, you’ve come to the right spot.

After going on several cruises, I’ve drastically reduced the number of shoes to pack on a cruise. There is no need for a suitcase full of shoes if you bring these three (yes, just 3) pairs of shoes along:

1. Closed-Toe Shoes

If you wear them, you don’t need to pack them. A pair of closed-toe shoes is required for onboard activities like going to the gym or participating in Laser Tag. They are also required for some port excursions like zip-lining or horse-back riding. A pair of comfortable closed-toe shoes, like a pair of runners, will keep your feet happy, too!

2. Beach Sandals

Bring one pair of flat beach sandals that you do not mind getting wet. A pair of beach sandals comes in handy for wearing to the pool or the beach. If you choose to go to the onboard spa, beach sandals will be convenient to wear.

You are not walking the runway on the cruise ship. Keep it simple. Bring along a pair of beach sandals that are comfortable. If they are not comfortable, leave them at home. Now is not the time to get a blister.

I love my beach sandals. They are made out of yoga mats and they are super comfortable to wear. I have hereditary bunions and so I avoid sandals that might irritate my bunions. These sandals fit right out of the box and make my feet feel like they are having a party every time that I wear them. You can find my favourite beach sandals here:

3. Dress Shoes

Bring one pair of dress shoes per person. The dining room is fancy and eloquent and your attire (including your footwear) should fit with the venue accordingly. When you look good, you feel good.

Choose a pair of dress shoes in a neutral color like beige or black. That way, you only need to bring one pair along.

Be sure to pack a pair of dress shoes for your children as well. Here are a few options to consider:
